Malayalam cinema has a history of portraying realistic and relatable romantic storylines. Some of the most iconic romantic films in Malayalam include:
Malayalam writers excel at the "friends-to-lovers" trope, creating some of the most organic chemistry on screen. The comfort and banter seen in films like Thattathin Marayathu or the more recent Hridayam feel relatable because they are rooted in friendship first. The relationships aren't usually love-at-first-sight fantasies; they are slow burns that develop through shared experiences, politics, and humor.
Directors like Lijo Jose Pellissery, Dileesh Pothan, and Aashiq Abu introduced romantic storylines where women express desire, rejection, and sexual agency.
Charmila's personal life has been as eventful as her on-screen roles and has often drawn media attention. She was first married to Malayalam actor Kishor Satya in 1996, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1999 following his alleged extramarital affair. She later married Rajesh, an engineer working at Nokia, in 2006. The couple has a son, but they also divorced in 2014. Despite these personal setbacks, Charmila has shown remarkable resilience, focusing on raising her son and continuing her work in the industry. Malayalam Actress charmila Hot sexy still03 jpg

Remembering Charmila: The Iconic Star of 90s Malayalam Cinema
Though Charmila stepped away from leading roles as the industry transitioned into the 2000s, she later made a return to the screen in character roles and television projects. Her enduring popularity speaks to a unique period in Malayalam cinema history—an era defined by strong storytelling, memorable music, and actors who established a deep, personal connection with their audience.
In recent years, Charmila has become a prominent voice against the sexual harassment and exploitation rampant in the film industry. Her revelations paint a harrowing picture of what often lies behind the glamour. She has bravely alleged that as many as 28 people, including well-known directors, producers, and actors, have misbehaved with her with sexual intent.

Take Uyare (2019), for instance. While the romantic angle is crucial, the film prioritizes the protagonist's (Parvathy) survival and career over the romance itself. The relationship serves as a catalyst for her tragedy, but ultimately, her journey is about self-reclamation. Similarly, in The Great Indian Kitchen (2021), the lack of a traditional "romantic" storyline becomes the point. It starkly contrasts the suffocation of a marriage of duty with the hope of a relationship based on equality and respect.
Displaying excellent comic timing alongside the industry’s top comedians and character actors.
The quality of a romantic storyline is often dictated by the strength of the female character, and Malayalam cinema is currently leading the charge in writing substantial roles for actresses.
That’s a brilliant tip and the example video.. Never considered doing this for some reason — makes so much sense though.
So often content is provided with pseudo HTML often created by MS Word.. nice to have a way to remove the same spammy tags it always generates.
Good tip on the multiple search and replace, but in a case like this, it’s kinda overkill… instead of replacing
<p>and</p>you could also just replace</?p>.You could even expand that to get all
ptags, even with attributes, using</?p[^>]*>.Simples :-)
Cool! Regex to the rescue.
My main use-case has about 15 find-replaces for all kinds of various stuff, so it might be a little outside the scope of a single regex.
Yeah, I could totally see a command like
remove cruftdoing a bunch of these little replaces. RegEx could absolutely do it, but it would get a bit unwieldy.</?(p|blockquote|span)[^>]*>What sublime theme are you using Chris? Its so clean and simple!
I’m curious about that too!
Looks like he’s using the same one I am: Material Theme

Thanks Joe!
Question, in your code, I understand the need for ‘find’, ‘replace’ and ‘case’. What does greedy do? Is that a designation to do all?
What is the theme used in the first image (package install) and last image (run new command)?
There is a small error in your JSON code example.
A closing bracket at the end of the code is missing.
There is a cool plugin for Sublime Text https://github.com/titoBouzout/Tag that can strip tags or attributes from file. Saved me a lot of time on multiple occasions. Can’t recommend it enough. Especially if you don’t want to mess with regular expressions.
